The MAHAMS Annual Maintenance Conference has been held at the Sea Crest Hotel in North Falmouth for many years. The conference begins Sunday morning with the Annual David Barss Memorial Golf Outing at The Brookside Club in Bourne. This fundraiser allows MAHAMS to present three significant scholarships to our member’s children and grandchildren. The Golf Outing is sponsored by many generous individuals and companies that help us achieve our fundraising efforts.

On Sunday evening, a special invited guest speaks to the membership about the current state of public housing from both a state and federal perspective. Last year, the President of Massachusetts NAHRO, Executive Director Robert McNabb of the Woburn Housing Authority was this year’s guest speaker. On Monday and Tuesday a number of expert panels are held on a wide array if maintenance topics. This year some of the topics included: a six hour course on all phases of electricity, lead paint compliance, tenant harassment and employment harassment in the workplace, integrated pest management, state housing updates, heating controls, kitchen and bath designs, domestic hot water and plumbing, environmental awareness and air quality control, and a safety first seminar.

The Annual Maintenance Conference provides many opportunities for housing maintenance personnel to attend a number of vendor demonstrations and learn about equipments and products first hand.
